Drupal google statcounter
December 14, 2005

Blog with useful information about Statcounter. The first post said "I have quickly become bored with Google Analytics: I think it's appeal is more for marketing departments and powerpoint/pie chart enthusiasts. I like the raw detail that statcounter gives me in an easily accessable way. I can see what people are searching for and sometimes it even inspires me to update articles to be more useful." Other post describes how to install statcounter in web sites. Link: http://www.petersblog.org/node/1064

Free stats: StatCounter versus Google Analytics
December 8, 2005

If you’ve got a personal website or blog and don’t have the money to spend on an advanced statistics package, you want to find the best free stats package out there to find out where your visitors are coming from and what they are looking for. The free solution I have been using for over a year is StatCounter, mostly because it permitted free usage with an invisible “hit counter.” Another popular service called SiteMeter forces you to place a small icon on your website. While I preferred the way that SiteMeter presented visitor locations, the SiteMeter icon did not look professional and did not fit with the theme of my website.

Since Google recently made their Urchin statistics software free and changed its name to Google Analytics, I was curious to run both Analytics and StatCounter simultaneously and determine which free service I preferred. Read on to learn more about both services, such as things like “Projects”, “Goals” and “Defined Funnels”. By the end of the comparison review, you should be able to determine which service will be better for your site. Link: http://paininthetech.com/free_stats_statcounter_versus_google_analytics

Line of site: statcounter.com
August 8, 2005

I've been testing a number of different web statistics tools, and the current king of the mountain is statcounter.com. This is the first web stats product i've seen that presents a very clear interface, uses some AJAX, and comes from a SEO mentality, which I think is super important. The free tracker test - Statcounter number one free tracker
August 6, 2005

StatCounter has improved recently so much, that it beats the competition with a significant margin. The reporting options of StatCounter are unmatched. It allows you to select start and end dates freely, and also measurement units, (day, week, month, quarter or year reporting), and you can save your personal preference to your default the next time you logon to your StatCounter stats. Blog Statistics with StatCounter
May 23, 2005

I recently came across a free tracking/measurement service called StatCounter. After a few simple steps I was ready to insert their HTML code into my template. A running total of the number of page loads appears at the bottom of the right panel of my blog. The counter is nice, but it’s all the other statistics that caught my eye. StatCounter shows things like which pages are the most popular, where people entered and exited your site, where they came from, what keywords they most often searched for, what browsers they’re using, how long they tend to stay on your site, etc. Link: http://jwikert.typepad.com/the_average_joe/2005/05/blog_statistics.html

Forums - Statcounter....spyware?

Statcounter...spyware? question sent to this forum where many participants have made general comments about statcounter. "As far as I'm aware StatCounter is a perfectly reputable organisation, and I certainly haven't heard of them using spyware. If they did, the word would soon get about, and they would have no business. They make their money from the advertisers you see on the StatCounter page that you login to when you want to view your stats." Google makes web analytics free

In this blog Nathan Weinberg said "I'm sure tens of thousands of bloggers will be switching to Google Analytics in the coming months, eliminating the awful StatCounter et. al. images strewn all over the web, and I say good riddance."
